In-game descriptionEdit

This description is taken from the description page in GT5. It is transcluded from here.

The Volkswagens created by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche had a plethora of ideas packed in the small bodies, as well as infinite possibilities. The cars were developed into a variety of variants, from off road cars for battlefields, to sportscars like the Porsche 911.

This Samba Bus is an example of its transformation into a van with a large luggage space. Because the engine is mounted in the rear in the same manner as the old Volkswagen beetle, the nose is extremely short. And because of the flat horizontally opposed engine, the floor of the luggage room is not very high. This is an example of the Volkswagen mechanism proving its superiority, in attaining the maximum space in a minimum body size.

The actual height of the car is relatively low at less than 62.9 inches, and it is said this is because they did not want to raise the air resistance with a high height. Still, because the floor of the car was very low to the ground, it had more space than its rivals, and it was also  very high in cost performance. Its small turning radius thanks to its short wheelbase, and the versatility of its compact size also gave it a lot of advantages as a commercial van.

The round headlights and the rounded front end design was practical but humorous, and is often used as a motif of other custom cars. VW is well aware of the important image of the Samba Bus, and has already introduced this in taller wagon concept cars.
