In-game description[]

"The final long-selling evolution model with the 1.5 L engine."

The Triumph Spitfire is a small, open-top two-seater sports car manufactured using the components of the Triumph Herald, a compact sedan.

The debut of the original model was in 1962. At first, it was equipped with an 1,147 cc, water-cooled OHV inline-4 engine. However, with the influence of pollution control standards that were becoming more strict in the United States, the engine was enlarged several times.

And in 1970, the final version of the Spitfire (which had evolved to a Mk. IV already by that time) was the Spitfire 1500. The new engine was a 1,493 cc inline-4 with a maximum power output of 71 BHP. By virtue of this engine, the maximum speed of the Spitfire was increased by 19 mph.

The sad part was that the engine was the only refurbished part of this car. The steel X-member separate frame, front double wishbone, and rear leaf spring swing axles were exactly the same as it was at the time of its debut.

With its clearly obsolete chassis, many thought that the Spitfire was on its last legs. Once the 70s came around, the world of sports cars saw the rapid maturation of closed body, high performance GT cars with comfortable interiors, and this also served to reinforce these expectations.

However, the Spitfire 1500 somehow survived for ten more years. 95,829 units of the Spitfire 1500 were produced between 1970 and 1980, and sports car enthusiasts learned from the Spitfire that the life of attractive lightweight sports cars do not come to an end so easily.
