  • That is a fantastic idea! I wasn't aware the color square template even worked here, although I've never actually tried it

    • Thanks, it just needed a bit of editing of the styling to make it line up nicely with the text. I removed the black border that Wikipedia uses, but it may need a fairly neutral colour around it to stop the darker colours blending into the site background (see the Vector M12 colours for an example).

I'm going to add them in to the GT2-only cars as a starter since I have access to the correct colours that the game uses, but I probably won't do too much with the cars that appear in later games as the thumbnails ingame will likely have been tweaked in later titles. For those it may be worth investigating datamining of paint chips in GT5 or 6.

    • I wish you luck in that, I myslef don't like datamining through the RPCS3 emulator, but maybe you have a different method. I do have access to the color hexes from GT1 and GT2, so I will help add them (GT1-specific special colors especially) at a later date.

    • I'm happy to provide my GT2 data too if you want to help add some - I have it dumped as a CSV spreadsheet with the car code, RGB-converted colour thumbnail, and colour name.

I'd also be interested to know where you found the specific colours for GT1's special colours too - I've recently ported the colours themselves to GT2 for a mod project so having matching thumbnails would be neat.

    • User adeyblue over at GTPlanet (who is now inactive I suspect, judging by his unresponsiveness) provided his mining data from GT1 to me a couple of years ago now. I have it saved in an Excel worksheet somewhere on my main computer. Color codes, as well as the .tim images, .htm files, and audio snippets as well. (3, 2, 1, START countdown sounds and other bits and pieces)

    • Ah, I didn't realise he'd dug in to GT1 too - a lot of my tooling is based on his research.

Also, just realised that the tool I wrote to dump the car colours as CSV can trivially be altered to output it as MediaWiki markup directly - should make it a lot quicker simply pasting a pre-generated Colors section into car pages.

    • I've now filled in the car colours for anything only in GT2, or where I'm not aware of any colour differences between GT1 and GT2. However, I generated MediaWiki markup for every single body in GT2 including racing modifications, so I've uploaded the full list here if anyone wants the full set of colour data to add to any pages I've skipped over.
