The Subaru 360 '58 is a road car produced by Subaru. It appears in Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo PSP, Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6.

In 1958, two years after the post-war period was declared over, many Japanese people had the dream of owning their own car. The lightweight kei car Subaru 360 was released to make this a reality. During the period following defeat in the war, Fuji Heavy Industries had continued making the Rabbit Scooter. This was to be their first time selling a genuine 4-wheeled automobile. Without this car, the motorization of Japan would probably have been significantly delayed.
Even looking back from the 21st century, the design of the 360 was unique. With a length of 117.7 inches, width of 51.1 inches and the then-standard kei car displacement of 356 cc, they started the design from the interior in order to accommodate 4 adult passengers, then covered it with the minimum outer surface area possible.
In the rear end of the egg-shaped body was an air-cooled 2-stroke engine, making it an RR layout vehicle driving the rear tires with a 3-speed MT. Though it only had 15 BHP at the time of debut, with a fiberglass roof panel and other efforts to make it as light as possible, the weight was kept to roughly 400kg - and the car was fairly quick. With an advanced 4-wheel independent suspension it gave a soft comfortable ride, and immediately set a new standard for small cars.
This Subaru 360 was a major hit that was produced up until 1971, and there were many variations in between such as cargo versions and canvas tops. Of special note are the Young S and SS, the sport versions. The SS was tuned to 35 BHP, the top of the level for its time, and the diagonal stripe running down the hood stirred the hearts of many young car enthusiasts.
Making dreams come true for many of the Japanese people, the Subaru 360 was seen driving all over Japan.

This car can be bought at the Subaru dealership for 36,000 Credits. It has a simple interior.
Trivia[]
- In Gran Turismo Sport, a photo of this car can be seen in Subaru's Museum in Brand Central. However, the car itself does not appear as a playable vehicle in said game.
