The Rover Mini Cooper 1275S Mark 1 is a rally car produced by Mini. It only appears in Gran Turismo 2.
The car appears to be the #177, driven by Rauno Aaltonen, who won the 1967 edition of the Monte Carlo Rally.
In-game description[]
This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:
After its introduction, the Mini quickly became the British national car. It seemed that everyone, from commoners to royalty, drove one. Many racing drivers were Mini owners, and that led to Minis racing. The Mini was light in weight and had an innovative fully-independent suspension with control arms in front, and trailing arms at the rear, both sprung by rubber cones similar in function to today's elastomer bicycle suspensions. It could outhandle a surprising number of more conventional cars. It had to take advantage of its cornering abilities, since in original 850 cc form it had all of 37 horsepower. John Cooper, maker of World Championship-winning Formula One cars in the late 1950s, and, more to the point, BMC-engined Formula Junior cars in the early 1960s, was called upon to tune the beloved Mini. The first Mini-Cooper had a 997 cc, 55 BHP version of the little BMC four-banger, and disc brakes were fitted inside of its ten-inch front wheels. But that was just the starting point. More power was extracted from the 1-liter engine, and then it was bored out to 1071 cc, with 67 BHP. The ultimate Mini was the 1275 cc Cooper S. In stock trim, with twin SU carburetors, it had 76 BHP at 5800 rpm, and 79 lb-ft of torque at 3000 rpm. In full race trim, somewhat more could be found. The rubber springs were replaced with "Hydrolastic" hydraulic units. With around 100 BHP in a 1400-lb car, prepared 1275 S Mini-Coopers were the terrors of small-displacement sedan racing, and very successful in rallying as well.

Trivia[]
- When viewing this car in the Mini and MG Special Line-Up in North City it is displayed as having 73 BHP. When the car is purchased, strangely it will now have 239 BHP in the Garage, much more than the 1275S race cars in reality.
