The RUF CTR2 '96 is a road car produced by RUF. It appears in all Gran Turismo games to date since Gran Turismo 2, with the exception of Gran Turismo Sport.

How do you improve upon a legend? If you are Alois Ruf, then the answer is "quite easily." As the follow up to the famed "Yellowbird" Ruf CTR, the next generation Ruf CTR2 began life as a 993-type Porsche 911...and then became much more.
Many body sections were swapped for new ones composed of lighter carbon fiber or Kevlar to help lessen the load (an even wider body version, based on the 911 Turbo, could also be selected). Inside, a new roll cage was added; it was especially sturdy as it was not free-standing but integrated into the cabin. The next step was to add a pair of large turbochargers to the essentially stock 3.6-liter flat-6. This custom-built KKK twin-turbo arrangement created 513 HP at 5800 rpm and developed 505.5 ft-lb of torque at 4800 rpm.
The Porsche factory's 6-speed manual was left untouched, but Ruf did offer cars with an optional electronic clutch system called "EKS." In standard CTR2 guise, the drive system was rear-wheel drive, but several different all-wheel drive systems were available as an option. Carbon brakes were also available.
Other editions included a track-only racing CTR2 and a street-legal CTR2 Sport. Both featured newly developed bodywork (the front lip measured 75.5 inches wide), but the race car model featured a different engine, a Spec II unit that produced a maximum of 533 HP.
