Nissan GT-R Pitstop

The pit lane, also known as pit road and pit stop, is an area of the track where tire changes and refueling occurs. In Gran Turismo 4, it is also the point at which a player can switch between A-Spec and B-Spec modes. Starting from Gran Turismo 5, major damage can be repaired here if the race is set to have heavy damage. In PS3-era games, the pit crew has the car manufacturer's logo on their outfit, which is the default outfit used in Arcade Mode of these games.

Most circuits (except rally courses until Gran Turismo Sport) have a pit lane which runs alongside the start/finish straight. There are however, exceptions to this rule. The most notable one is at the Eiger Nordwand Short Track and Tokyo Expressway - South Outer Loop/Inner Loop, where the pit lane is located around a quarter of the way round the track. There are also several circuits without a pit lane, for example, Top Gear Test Track, Special Stage Route 7, and Suzuka Circuit West; tires or fuel cannot be changed in these courses.

Up until GT3, only tires are changed in the pit lane, and there are no pit workers when the pit work is in progress; refueling and pit work animations were added in GT4. In GT3 and GT4, the player is notified when rival cars are pitting in; the player can also know what rivals are pitting in by looking on the standings (on the left on the screen) from GT6 onwards.

Certain races in Gran Turismo 7 (mostly in its Sport Mode) require that the player enter and exit the pit lane correctly without cutting the pit road lines. Failure to do so results in a 3-second penalty. This rule was also present for live FIAGTC races in GT Sport.

Pit Stop was also the name of Gran Turismo's official blog, updated from June 2014 to February 2017, with contents in both Japanese and English. The blog stopped working somewhere in late 2022, displaying a WordPress error message instead; the WordPress error was resolved somewhere in mid-2023, although it stopped working again somewhere in August 2023, displaying an Account Suspended message.
