In-game description[]

GT5, GT6, GT7 Car Index[]

"The origin of the Skyline Legend. The legendary "Hakosuka" (Box Skyline) that won 50 races in a row."

The GT-R added to the C10 series Skyline on February 1969, was the first step in the glorious history of Skylines thereafter. Its 6 cylinder, twin-cam 4 valves per cylinder engine was the S20, taken directly from the famed R380 which left its mark in world speed records and the Japan GP. It was the engine of the Prince Motor Company that kept its shine, even after its merger with Nissan. However, though the price of the normal GT was 80,000 yen, the S-20 engine of the GT-R alone cost 700,000 yen.

The 4 door sedan and hardtop GT-Rs both have a long nose consistent with the history of "Ska-G"s. The surface line across the rear fender was a fresh accent, but the GT-R totally ignored these features. A screwed on over fender for housing the large tires cut across the beautiful lines.

The GT-R was not famed for things like that. What got it famous was its record in races. Oppama works cars and their famous drivers such as Moto Kitano and Kunimitsu Takahashi tore up the Fuji and Suzuka Circuits, and won the legendary 50 consecutive races in a row.

But on the other hand, it was very difficult to perfectly adjust the high-tech 4 valves per cylinder, 3 carburetor, twin-cam GT-R engine. It is said that it was very rare that a typical user would be able to fully enjoy the exceptional performance of this engine on the street.

Still, once it gave that metallic roar, it easily left its rivals in the dust, beyond the range of the rear view mirrors. Its[1] tried and tested front strut, rear semi-trailing was also superbly balanced with its power.

Legend Cars (GT7)[]

The boxy 'Hakosuka' Skyline has admirers all over the world. Of these cars, this two-door hardtop GT-R, known by its model number, KPGC10... Is sought after by international collectors to this day. Among its many charms is its engine... A direct descendent of the high-performance engine used in Japan's first prototype racing car, the Prince R380. Fewer than 1,200 KPGC10s were produced, and including the four-door models, the total is only around 2,000 cars. This car is a legend that scored 49 consecutive wins in the Japanese Touring Car Championship. Owning it means owning a piece of that incredible history.

Cafe (GT7)[]

Shiro Nakamura[]

This here is GT-R 'ground zero'—The GT-R was Japan's world-class sports sedan of the 1960s. In addition to its characteristic 'surfing line', it comprises many well-executed elements. And despite its sedan lineage, it is proportionally sporty, guided by a simple yet powerful theme. It also has a touch of American flavour, from the solid doors to the overall sense of volume. Noticeably missing, however, are the four round taillights so typical of GT-Rs. When designing the R35 GT-R, attention was paid to the Hakosuka's overall mood and details. In truth, a key thing about traditional GT-Rs is that they aren't fastbacks, but are shaped by the C Pillar. Indeed, the R35 may look like a fastback... But you'll notice that, when compared to this KPGC, the window-line of the C Pillar is set at the same angle.

Trivia[]

  • The car as it appears in GT2 features a rear wing and front splitter that was used in the car's racing counterpart. These were removed in later games, but can be restored in GT7 from that game's GT Auto.
  • Although it appeared in almost every Gran Turismo game except in the first game, 3 and Sport, it never received its updated model and a fully-functioning interior until its eventual return in Gran Turismo 7 where it now has fully-functioning headlights, turning signals, and a highly detailed interior.
  • In GT7, this car and its successor were originally ineligible for Nissan GT-R Cup, despite meeting the requirements of being Skyline GT-R models. This was changed in update v1.44.
