The coupe model of the V35 was a major turning point for the Skyline, and was an incredible hit in its new North American market. It became very important as an image leader of the Infiniti brand in a very short amount of time. With its great success, it was improved by another step in this V36 Skyline Coupe.
The basic mechanism is in line with the previous model, but by reviewing and refining fine details, Nissan raised the level of perfection and performance.
The exterior design with its characteristically elegant roof line was carried over, and by giving it a more animal-like roundness, it was given a bit of emotional character. The enlargements of body size in this model is mostly due to this design.
The engine is a VQ37VHR model engine, which was enlarged to 3.7L and given the VVEL, a mechanism that allows continuously variable valve operating angle and lift. This is Nissan's new generation engine, which produces an amazing 333ps, while still improving on economy and environmental performance. In addition, the Type SP and Type S are equipped with a 4 wheel active steering which controls the turning angles of the front and rear tires in order to achieve the optimum handling across low to high speed ranges.
The highest grade Type SP is a lavish model with a luxurious genuine leather interior, 19 inch wheels, and mechanisms for serious driving such as a sports tuned suspension and an aluminum 4 pot caliper brake system. The result is everything you would expect of a Skyline, an all mighty coupe able to prove its worth on both winding roads and city cruising.
