The Mini Cooper S '11 is a sporty citycar made by BMW on behalf of Mini. It is available as part of a DLC pack for use in Gran Turismo 5, and comes by default in Gran Turismo 6.

DescriptionEdit

"The advanced version of the Cooper S, powered up with a variable valve timing feature."

BMW introduced the world to a completely redesigned Mini Cooper in 2001. Incorporating the essence and spirit of the original 1960s Mini Cooper into an all-new vehicle, the born-again Mini proved extremely popular from the moment it was introduced and was soon seen navigating the streets of major cities all over the world. BMW's second-generation Mini was announced in the fall of 2006, and while this new model appeared nearly identical both inside and out to the car it replaced, it actually featured a slightly larger body. Despite the "growth spurt," the signature styling of the new Mini stayed true to the design of the original, keeping it essentially unchanged for almost 40 years.

But while the Mini's overall styling appeared the same, the car was a completely different entity under the sheet metal. The modern version featured a new 1.6-liter inline-4 engine developed jointly with the Peugeot-Citroën group. The Mini Cooper S received a direct-injection twin-scroll turbocharged engine that produced a stout 173 HP. In the spring of 2010, the engine received an additional upgrade in the form of BMW's Valvetronic variable-valve timing technology, boosting output to a robust 181 HP at 5500 rpm and 177.2 ft-lb of torque that peaked from 1600-5000 rpm.

Thanks to its charming styling, well-engineered powerplants and excellent handling trait, the Mini Cooper continues to capture the hearts of driving enthusiasts of all young and old motorists alike.
