The Lotus Esprit GT1 is a race car produced by Lotus. It only appears in Gran Turismo 2.

In-game Description[]

This description is taken from the PAL version of Gran Turismo 2:

British sports car company Lotus has a reputation for maximising the performance of its road and racing cars by engineering them to be as light and nimble-footed as possible. So it was with the Lotus Esprit GT1 car, only just squeezing above GT racing's minimum weight restriction of 900kg. The mid-engined racer is constructed from a combination of composite glass fibre and carbon fibre, clad over a steel backbone chassis with an integral roll cage. Huge aerodynamic downforce is generated by a combination of a carbon fibre splitter, floor, and diffuser, with a large Formula One-style rear spoiler. The Esprit GT1 raced by the factory team in 1996, and was made to order for customer teams, is capable of producing up to 550BHPm provided by a 3.5-litre turbocharged V8 engine of the specialist sports car maker's own design and manufacture. The transmission is a six-speed Hewland sequential 'box, while braking is provided by carbon discs capable of remaining fade-free even at extremely high temperatures.
