In-game description

"A coupe reborn to fight in the global market."

  • The Nissan Skyline was sold as the Infiniti G35 in the US.

The eleventh-generation Skyline, now with its sights on the world market, represented such a change from the previous models that Nissan designated it with a new letter in the codename. Gone was the traditional "R", replaced by a "V". The new Skyline introduced in June 2001, would be known as the V35.

The V35 Skyline, which was sold as the Infiniti G35 in the U.S., was build on the FM platform, Nissan's new FR (Front engine/Rear drive) foundation that would see use in everything from sports cars to SUVs. Thus, a new engine was also fitted to the new chassis. Replacing the traditional inline-6 was the award-winning VQ.

In Japan, the base engine was a 2.5-liter DOHC V-6 that produced 214 HP and 198.9 ft-lb of torque. America got the upgraded 3.0-liter DOHC V-6 that pumped out 256 and 238.6 ft-lb of torque. This was followed by an even bigger VQ in 2002, a 3.5-liter rated at 268 HP and 260.3 ft-lb of torque. It was the same VQ35DE powerplant used in the 350Z sports car.

In January 2003, a sporty 2-door coupe was introduced. Powered by the same 3.5-liter VQ as the sedan, it produced more power at 276 HP and 267.6 ft-lb or torque, and came mated to 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox. The sedan version followed suit by also offering a manual version.
