The Ford GT90 is a concept car produced by Ford in 1995. Designed as a spiritual successor of the Ford GT40, this car, nicknamed as "the world's mightiest supercar", is the first car to display Ford's "New Edge" design. It appeared only in Gran Turismo 2, where it is treated as a race car.

In January 1995 the Detroit Motorshow shook with fear as Ford unveiled the world's mightiest supercar concept. The awesome GT90 promised an earth-shattering 900 BHP from its quad-turbocharged V12 engine and a top speed close to 240 mph. It would have the McLaren F1 for breakfast and still have room for Ferrari's F50 come elevensies. The mid-engined monster was a spiritual successor to the GT40, taking from it a few styling cues, such as the doors which open into the roofline, but there was nothing retro about the design. All angles and glass, the GT90 was the first Ford to display the company's 'New Edge' design philosophy which features strongly in the current line-up. Just take a peek at a Ka, Focus or Cougar and you'll see traces of GT90 in the sharp lines. The GT90 was built around a hi-tech honeycomb section aluminium monocoque and its striking body panels were moulded from carbon fibre. The GT90 was built by a small team in just over six months and as a result it 'borrowed' components from another high-profile stablemate - the Jaguar XJ220. The all-round double wishbone suspension and the five-speed manual gearbox came from the SuperJag, whilst the engine was also comandeered from another member of the Ford family. To be precise, it was two engines. The GT90's V12 was built from two Lincoln V8s that each had a pair of cylinders removed. The result was a six-litre unit that Ford reckoned could produce anything up to 900 BHP thanks to no less to four Garrett T2 turbos. The only time the GT90 ran it mustered some 720 BHP which was good enough for a 0-60 mph time of just over three seconds. The 200 mph-plus top speed was never tested and sadly the GT90 is now a museum piece.
