The Ford Falcon XR8 (Tickford Falcon XR8 in earlier games) is an Australian race car produced by Ford/Tickford. It is powered by a highly modified 302 cubic inch (5 liter) OHV Windsor SVO V8 which puts out figures of 610 horsepower and 623 Foot Pounds of torque. Because of this power, the car tends to suffer from small amounts of oversteer when given a spirited drive around a track.
This Australian race car first appeared in Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec and has returned in every game since.
The car appears to be the #5, driven by Glenn Seton, who achieved 5th place in the 2000 V8 Supercars Driver's Championship. In the 2000 Bathurst 1000, the car was driven by Seton and Neil Crompton to a 13th place finish.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the V8 Supercars Championship was the most popular form of motorsports in Australia, more so than Formula 1. The races were contested between two makes, the Holden Commodore (General Motors) and the Ford Falcon.
In the second half of the 1990s, the Holden Racing Team dominated the series, but in 2000, the tide began to turn. The reason was because Ford of Australia built a machine specifically intended to usurp the Commodore. The car was called rhe Falcon XR8. It was powered by a 5-liter V8 that pumped out 599 HP. It came mated to a Holinger 6-speed manual gearbox made in Australia, coupled to a 9-in. differential.
The V8 Supercars Championship's main attraction was that the cars were very evenly matched, as a result of strict regulations, which made every race intensely competitive. The cars had to be equipped with identical MoTeC ECUs, as well as imposing limits on the compression ratio and mandating 7,500 rpm rev limiters. Ford's results in 2000 were much better than in the previous year, but the Falcon XR8 managed only one pole and one win, with three 3rd-place finishes. In Australia's most popular race, the Bathurst 1000, the Falcon was able to nab pole position with former 500 cc motorcycle champ Wayne Gardner behind the wheel, but the race was won by a Holden.
