GT2 West City Ford Europe

A pre-release GT2 screenshot with Ford (Europe) dealership. Note that it is placed in the West City, despite another unused graphic in the final game's files suggesting it would be treated as a German brand, where it would belong in the North City instead.[1]

  • An entry for Ford ESCORT 1.8 Gti can be found in the replay name listings in demo builds of GT2, as well in the otherwise-static Ford dealership in that demo; the car was however cut from the final game.[2]
    • Additionally, mentions of the Ford ESCORT RS2000 can also be found there (with it's internal name, efe2n, being reused for the Ford RS200 '84 in that game) as well in the final game's description for the Ford Escort Rally Car '98, although it is used only in the Japanese version of the final game.
  • A Ford Crown Victoria Taxi is seen in the New York Photo Mode Location in GT4, however this said vehicle never appeared as a playable vehicle in any of the games.
  • A third-generation Ford Explorer is seen as a background in Dirt & Snow Tracks menu in GT4, although the car has yet to be playable in the games. Judging from where the photo was taken, it likely was taken during the development process for the game in process of creating the Grand Canyon track.
  • In GT6, GT Sport and GT7, a Ford Transit can be seen as a trackside prop car in some tracks (mostly used as ambulance/medical car); however said vehicle never became playable in any of the games.
  • With the addition of Ford GT Race Car '18 and the return of the original Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II to GT7, Ford equates BMW's record for the manufacturer with highest Gr.3 cars available at four. In version 1.25, Nissan also equated the record with the addition of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 '18 (as well as the Nissan Skyline Super Silhouette Group 5 '84 and Nissan GT-R GT500 '99).
  • In GT2, internally, European and American Ford offerings are split, with European models beginning with the "ef" prefix and American ones beginning with the "uf" suffix in the filenames. Plans for a separate European Ford dealership were made in GT2, but didn't materialize; as such, American and European Ford models continue to be treated as the same brand. This has the side-effect of European-only Ford offerings (such as the Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth '87, which first appeared in GT7) being unable to enter European regional events whenever regional restrictions apply (additionally, European Ford models appear as opponents in lower-level US Nationals events in GT2).
