In-game description[]

"The top-grade model of the Challenger, which captured the hearts of many people with its design."

The first generation Dodge Challenger debuted in 1970 as a sister car utilizing the same E-body as the Plymouth Barracuda.

The Challenger was made available as a hard top and convertible. In the mid-1960's in the U.S., many popular "pony" cars[1] were released, starting with the Ford Mustang and followed by cars like the Chevrolet Camaro,[2] and Pontiac Firebird. But the Challenger was released after this trend had passed its peak, a late bloomer of sorts.

However, the muscular Dodge was still very welcomed by the public at the time. One of the major reasons was its style; with its low, sharp silhouette and coke bottle lines. The design was by Carl Cameron, who had designed the 1966 Dodge Charger, and this design would later carry over into the third generation Challenger which debuted 40 years later in the 2006 North American International Motor Show.

The first generation Challenger came in a Challenger 6, Challenger V8, and Challenger R/T (Road and Track) models. In addition, there is a T/A model which was a homologation model for participation in the SCCA Trans-Am event, however the R/T is the most high performance model out of the commercially mass-produced line-up.

Legend Cars (GT7)[]

This is a 1970 model, first-generation Dodge Challenger. One of the R/T series, it is powered by a 426 Hemi engine featuring hemispherical combustion chambers. When the 1970 models debuted in 1969, customers had a choice between the basic straight-six model and this R/T. The basic model was classified as a 'pony car', while the R/T was considered a true muscle car. Relatively few Dodge Challenger R/Ts were produced, so today they are worth quite a lot. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that this Hemi R/T is a true collector's item.

Café (GT7)[]

Hideo Kodama[]

At first glance, this car might look like a normal sedan, but get inside and you'll see it was made for speed. It belongs to the 'muscle car' category. Like the Barracuda, this Challenger R/T is small in size. However, the large front opening and the kicked-up rear quarters... Are aggressive design cues that are in keeping with the car's character. Power is provided by a HEMI engine. On the bonnet is a protruding scoop called a 'shaker'. It's so named because it loudly declares it power by shaking. Include the optional rear spoiler and the Challenger R/T is a muscle car that's sure to turn heads.
