The Audi Le Mans quattro '03 is a concept car developed by Audi. The car is shown to be what seems like the early stages of development for the later-to-come Audi R8 road car. It first appears in Gran Turismo 4.

In-game description

"A supercar prototype, incorporating technology from the R8 which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans."

Audi won the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in a row, from 2000 to 2002 with the venerable R8 race car. And the road-going R8 was born from the technology gained from the R8 racer. The production R8 first made its appearance at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto[1] Show as the Le Mans quattro.[2] A concept car that was believed to be built atop the Lamborghini Gallardo platform (Lamborghini was owned by Audi), but Audi never confirmed those reports. The body size of both cars was similar, with the Le Mans quattro[2] stretching 172.0 inches in length, 74.8 inches in overall width and 49.2 inches high. The Gallardo was a mere 2.7 inches shorter in length and 3.3 inches shorter[3] in height in comparison.

The Le Mans quattro[2] featured Audi's trademark aluminum space frame, with some carbon composites incorporated at various places. The lightweight construction accounted for the car's lean curb weight of 1530 kg. The[4] engine was a twin-turbocharged 90-degree V-10 with a turbo on each bank. It featured the company's FSI gasoline direct-injection system and pumped out an impressive 602 HP and 553.3 lb-ft of torque. This allowed the car to dash to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, to 124 mph in 10.8 seconds and top out at 214 mph. The production R8 appeared with essentially the same styling in 2006, at first offered only with a V-8, as the V-10 was added in late 2008.
