Aston Martin Lagonda Limited, or better known as Aston Martin, is a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin in London. He named the company after himself and the Aston Clinton hillclimb where an early car of his had some success.
The company has changed ownership many times throughout its history. At one point it was owned by a gentleman called David Brown who also built tractors. He decided it would be a good idea to put his mark on the cars. This is the reason why most of the cars bear the prefix "DB", Brown's Initials, especially the DB6, and the DB7. Aston Martin is now owned by a consortium; consisting of David Richards' Prodrive and some Eastern bankers, having also previously been owned by Ford.
Aston Martin is well-known for producing several cars featured in Ian Fleming's "James Bond" series of films, notably the DB5, and the Vanquish.
Aston Martin vehicles have been featured in all the main Gran Turismo games, however they do not appear in Gran Turismo PSP for an as yet undisclosed reason. The company even has their own dedicated event on Gran Turismo 4.

Trivia[]
- The theme music for the Aston Martin dealership in the NTSC-J version of GT1 is "Take Your Dream On", which would be subsequently remixed as one of the menu themes in GT4.
- An thumbnail for an Aston Martin DB9 Volante (a variant otherwise not featured in the game) can be found in GT5's data files; however, it is not located with thumbnail data with the rest of the game's cars (used or not), but instead as part of leftovers for wedding scene (possibly used for internal/staff use) that also features Ferrari 599 '06 and Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89 with celebratory parts added.[1]
