The 2011 Carl Edwards ♯99 Aflac FORD FUSION '11 is a 2011 NASCAR race car produced by Ford. It appears in Gran Turismo 5.[1]

Hailing from Columbia, Missouri, Carl Edwards is a former NASCAR Busch series Rookie of the Year (2005), NASCAR Busch series champion (2007) and one of the most popular drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
Catching the eye of Jack Roush, one of the most successful team owners in NASCAR racing, Edwards began driving for Roush Fenway Racing in the Nextel Cup series (renamed Sprint Cup in 2008) in 2005 and took his first career victory in just his fourth race with the team and won four races in total that year. In 2008, he nearly dethroned the seemingly unbeatable Jimmie Johnson when he won a total of nine races. Much was expected of Edwards and his Aflac-sponsored Ford in 2009, but it turned out to be a difficult season as he didn't win a single race, and was also involved in what is considered to be one of the most violent-looking crashes in NASCAR history when he went airborne into the catch fence on the last lap of a race at the ultra-high-speed Talladega Superspeedway in April of that year. Fortunately, he emerged unscathed from the brutal crash and, demonstrating his good sense of humor, sprinted on foot across the start-finish line to the cheers of the crowd.
Carl Edwards is a rock-solid driver who can score valuable points when his race car isn't very good and can be a dominating force when everything is going his way. Look for him to challenge for his initial Sprint Cup championship again soon... and for his signature back flip whenever he wins a race.
